the psb experience

Posted in miscellaneous stuff at 3:09 am by admin

i promised my pet shop boys experience… so here goes.

i arrived at the hammerstein ballroom in new york city at around 8pm. first of all, the number of flaming people (which i was obviously expecting) was very amusing… people in tight pink muscle shirts, pierced back and forth, etc.

we had floor tickets, which i thought would be a good thing, since we were only 40 feet from neil tennant, but the beginning of the show turned into a nightmare. now, i will introduce you to the cast of characters that surrounded us on the floor.

in the haze of cigarette and pot smoke, we had:

This huge gay man with a beret and long hair (prolly a wig coming out the hat)… looked JUST LIKE HER. And BOY could he and his boyfriend dance!

… and her boyfriend …

they pissed me off soooo much! First of all, no one was dancing like crazy, but this girl was just OUT OF HAND… it was like watching a really bad eurotrash music video (S Club 7, if you will)… and THEN they were doing this thing where she held onto his shoulders and they bopped back and forth in opposite directions… i wish i had pictures. and she was swinging her long hair around and hitting me in the face with it, and he was picking her up on his back and sticking her ass in my face… it was TERRIBLE. did i mention they were foreigners? swedish, or something like that…. VERY annoying… the girl kept yelling out ridiculously untimely english words in her stupid accent, like “FABULOUS!” and “BREEELIANT!”

enough about them though. ask me more later, but they were AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.

anyway, the music was good. ) lots of acoustic stuff (very unexpected). it wasn’t much of a production either — no background vocalists, no dancers, no projections.

here are some of the songs that struck me as GREAT:

home and dry — from the new album… VERY cool ) this was the opening number

i get along — also from the new album, very oasis-sounding

a red letter day — great acoustic version of this song (my 2nd fav psb track)

go west — absolutely rocked! the bass was amazing, and everyone in the audience sang “TOGETHER” (the village people’s part)

being boring — my fav psb song… reminds me of jessica

well, that’s it for now!!!!! let me know if you have any questions )
